Burbage Police Weekly Update. Graffiti Charges, Road Safety, Upcoming Events And Patrols |
||||||
|
Hello Resident,
We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage this week.
Reported Crime and Appeals
Report of theft of registration plates from a Ford transit van between the 14th and 17th of August. The vehicle was parked on the Hinckley Road car park. 26000491574
Multiple reports of road traffic collisions. The majority of these calls related to Watling Street. With the schools returning next week, we continue to request that motorists take 5 minutes to keep calm and be respectful of other road users and pedestrians, in the interests of everyone's safety.
Since our last update on the 11th of August, we have received 53 calls, 7 were emergency and 11 were priority. Calls were predominately transport, Anti-social behaviour and concern for safety related.
Patrols include Brookside, Three Pots areas, Higham way, Tilton Road park, Britannia Road Park, Rugby Road and more.
A lot of our workload this week has revolved around youths related issues and neighbour disputes. We have done some really productive work, got some positive outcomes, and this work will hopefully make a difference going forward.
Some more positive news. A local male has been charged with 5 counts of criminal damage following a recent spate of graffiti in Burbage. Court appearance over the coming weeks.
We completed our local officer drop-in at the Co-op on Boyslade road on the 19th where we spoke to residents and supported with crime reduction items.
We were delighted to attend the Burbage Gardening Club Open Show at Hastings High School, where we hosted a crime reduction stall. It was great to speak with so many residents and visitors, offering advice and crime prevention items to help keep sheds, gardens, and property secure. The organisers held a very busy and well attended event, so a big well done to those involved.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
A couple of events for your diary. Please see below image regarding the Stars and Diamonds racing club Open day – A showcase of alternative therapies on Saturday 5th September from 10:00-15:00 on Workhouse Lane. Macmillan cancer support.
I will be holding a targeted crime prevention event at the Burbage Parish council Millenium Hall from 12:00-16:00 on Sunday the 6th of September, so please pop along. Get ready for the darker nights and ensure your property is secure. A range of items sold at cost such as fence spikes, PIR alarms, shed alarms and much more.
Scam notice from resident to raise awareness. You will probably receive many “spam” or “phishing” messages via email, most should be automatically filtered out by your provider, sometimes they will still get through to your main inbox. Please be mindful of emails and text messages as they may be scams. Messages claiming that your email account will close if you do not take action, are often ways that scammers will trick you into entering passwords and given them access to your account. Please block those types of messages. Never use links within emails to enter passwords or enter sensitive information such as bank details.
Thank you and take care.
